Red River is located in northern New Mexico surrounded by the Carson National Forest with year around accessibility. The Red River, as well as numerous creeks and streams, run through the town providing excellent fishing opportunities. Red River is located at an altitude of 8750 ft. with moderate summers and an average snowfall of 180". Located in the middle of town is the Red River Ski and Snowboard area with the best snowmaking equipment in the Southern Rockies. With our mixed terrain, one can enjoy alpine skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing as well as excellent fishing, hiking, horseback riding and many other family activities during our summer months. Red River boasts many events and activities year around from our annual chili cook-off and music festival in the summer to our Mardi Gras in the Mountains in the winter. Red River always has something planned for our residents and visitors.
